Dubai’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, alongside his wife Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, has launched the Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Family Programme. This new initiative offers 10 days of paid marriage leave for newlyweds, announced on Sunday, January 5. The scheme aims to enhance family growth, stability, and wellbeing in Dubai.
The family programme provides extensive financial, social, and educational support, promoting a balanced work-life environment. Wedding support packages, housing assistance, and flexible work policies are designed to support Emirati families.
Under this initiative, newlywed Dubai government sector employees will enjoy 10 days off work and mothers can opt for remote work on Fridays during the first year post-maternity leave. Sheikh Mohammed also disclosed plans to build 3,000 housing units valued at Dhs5.4 billion.
Additionally, the programme reduces housing loan premiums to Dhs3,333 per month for Dubai Weddings programme beneficiaries with a monthly income not exceeding Dhs30,000. The weddings programme covers the main wedding ceremony costs, provides free wedding halls and Majlises, and encourages financial prudence.
Future phases of the Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Family Programme will introduce new benefits in education, health, and other social services. Emirati citizens in Dubai planning to marry can register for the Dubai Weddings programme if the prospective bride is an Emirati citizen.
This initiative highlights the UAE’s commitment to family welfare and stability, providing extensive support for newlyweds and promoting a balanced lifestyle.
