Upcoming Long Weekends in UAE for 2025

Now that everyone is back to work, it’s time to start anticipating those sweet long weekends. Last year, we enjoyed several extended breaks thanks to UAE public holidays like Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha, giving us ample time away from the office.

Although we won’t have the exact dates for every long weekend in 2025 until closer to the time, as many of the major public holidays in the UAE depend on moon sightings, we can still predict when we’ll get some time off.

In 2025, UAE public holidays will amount to at least 12 days in total. By combining these days with weekends, you can look forward to some serious time off work this year.

Also Starting January 1 this year, if a non-Eid public holiday falls on a weekend, the day off can be moved to another date

Mark Your Calendars: UAE Public Holidays and Long Weekends in 2025

Eid Al Fitr 2025

The first significant UAE public holiday of 2025 will be Eid Al Fitr. The UAE government has confirmed at least three days off to celebrate the end of Ramadan. If Ramadan lasts 30 days instead of 29, these three days off might extend to four.

Astronomers predict Ramadan will begin on Saturday, March 1, 2025. Consequently, the first day of the Eid Al Fitr break will be either Sunday, March 30, or Monday, March 31.

If Ramadan is a 29-day month, it will result in a four-day weekend, with Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday as public holidays. Combined with the weekend, this creates a four-day break.

However, if Ramadan is a 30-day month, we could enjoy a five-day weekend, with Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday designated as public holidays.

Eid Al Adha 2025

The second long weekend of the year will be for Eid Al Adha.

Eid Al Adha marks the end of Hajj, the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, and occurs in the month of Dhu Al Hijjah.

The UAE public holiday is observed between Dhu Al Hijjah 9 and Dhu Al Hijjah 12, which is predicted to fall between Thursday, June 5, and Sunday, June 8, 2025.

This four-day long weekend depends on moon sightings, but we should know the exact dates more than a week in advance.

As of this year, UAE public holidays that fall on a weekend can be shifted to the working week; however, this does not apply to either Eid Al Fitr or Eid Al Adha.

The Prophet Muhammed’s birthday (PBUH) 2025

The final long weekend of the year is anticipated for the Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday (PBUH).

Currently, this holiday is expected to occur on Friday, September 5, which would result in a three-day weekend.

This occasion aligns with Rabi’ Al-Awwal 12, predicted to be on Friday, September 5. However, the date could change depending on whether Islamic months have 29 or 30 days.
